The Ancient world was full of living gods and goddesses. In Greece it was Zeus that was the King of the Gods. Zeus was known to have human flaws as well as the power of the gods.
His best known weakness was lust. He was known to have children with human women. The two best known are Hercules and Perseus.
We know of these two due to the legends that they leave behind. Perseus is known thanks to movies and Hercules is known due to the legendary acts that he did as well as the TV series.
Zeus was saved from being eaten as an infant when his mother wrapped a rock in his swaddling cloth and gave it to his father, Cronos and it was swallowed. The legends say that Cronos had been told in a vision that he would be destroyed by one of his own children and to prevent this, he swallowed them after they were born.
The lighting bolt was his weapon, thunder his wrath. His brothers were Poseidon and Hades. His wife Hera was known to have a jealous streak in her. She knew of his misbehaving ways and means. More than once, she would lash out at the children of Zeus and his human mistress.
